Library & IT

Welcome to the Bush School Library

Mission Statement

The mission of the library and information technology program is twofold:

  • to ensure that students of The Bush School are effective users of ideas and information technology
  • to ensure that faculty and staff have access to the training and tools that will enable them to effectively use information, communication and productivity technology

This mission is accomplished by:

  • providing intellectual and physical access to information in all formats
  • providing instruction to foster competent and responsible use of information and technology
  • enhancing interest in reading, viewing and using information and ideas
  • collaborating with faculty to integrate information literacy and use of technology into the content curriculum
  • providing ongoing training to faculty and staff in new information, communication and productivity technology applications
  • providing guidance in the ethical use of information, communication and productivity technology

This mission is guided by six essential questions:

  • Why read?
  • Why do I need information?
  • What is the difference between information and knowledge?
  • What are my rights and responsibilities as a consumer and producer of information?
  • How does the world I live in affect the skills I need?
  • Why and how do I use the library?
