The Bush School makes every effort to be a good neighbor and has entered into a legal, binding agreement with the City of Seattle and with surrounding residents in a Neighborhood Agreement to enforce strict parking regulations on and around campus. Our intent in providing the following information is to ensure safety and efficiency in traffic management and to be respectful of our neighbors by allowing them adequate parking and unimpeded access to their homes.

Traffic and Parking Regulations Vehicle Registration and Parking

Vehicle parking permits for all employees are issued by the Facilities Office at the beginning of each school year.

All vehicles driven to the school by Bush parents, faculty, staff, and students must display the current year’s parking permit.

Parking permits must be hung on the rearview mirror with the number facing out and be clearly visible from outside of the vehicle.

Replacements for lost permits or permits for additional vehicles may be requested through the Facilities Office.

Please notify the Facilities Office of license-plate and vehicle changes.

Parking is allowed only where specified on the Traffic and Parking Map.

Twelfth Grade students are allowed to park on the streets adjacent to the school in the parking areas designated on the Traffic and Parking Map.

Tenth and Eleventh Grade students are not allowed to park on any streets adjacent to the school and must park outside of the area specified on the Traffic and Parking Map.

Student drivers may park in the garage only if they drive to school in a carpool of two or more people.

 Student Drop-Off Procedures

Student drop-off for all divisions takes place only on East Harrison Street in the legally marked areas between 36th Avenue East and 33rd Avenue East on the school side of the street (north).

Pull as far forward as possible to leave room for other vehicles to pull up behind you.

Obey signage on East Harrison Street designating the drop-off area as a three-minute passenger load/unload zone from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

Parents planning to accompany a student to class must park in the garage.

Do not allow students to leave or enter a vehicle that is double-parked or not parked at the curb.

Students should always enter and exit a vehicle from the curbside.

 Student Pickup Procedures

Lower School is dismissed at 3:20 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, and at 2:30 p.m. on Fridays.

Middle School is dismissed at 3:30 p.m.
-
Upper School is dismissed at 3:30 p.m.
-
The pickup area is limited; please do not arrive earlier than 15 minutes before dismissal time.
-
Always follow the instructions of school staff directing traffic.

The Lower School pickup line forms at the entrance to the garage on East Harrison Street.

The Middle School pickup line start is on East Harrison Street and 34th Avenue, indicated by the sign “Middle School Line Starts Here.”
-
Traffic entering the garage from East Harrison Street travels one way to the pickup area and exits the garage back out onto East Harrison Street.
-
Vehicles in line must stay to the right of the traffic lane to allow through traffic to pass and exit the garage.
-
Headlights must be turned on while in the garage.
-
Speed limit is 5 mph in the garage.
-
Vehicle engines must be turned off while waiting in the garage.

Drivers should remain in their vehicle at all times.
-
If your student is not present when you reach the front of the line, you will be redirected back into the line.

Upper School pickup takes place on East Republican Street in the cut-out area at the east end of the street between the Middle School and the Art Building.

Middle School/Upper School combined pickups: Middle School students being picked up with an Upper School student may be picked up at the Upper School pickup area with permission from the Middle School director.

Lower School/Middle School combined pickups: drivers picking up students in Lower and Middle Schools may park on East Republican Street where indicated by the sign “Multi-Division Pickup Parking Only," then walk into the garage to pick up students and accompany them back to the vehicle.

Lower School/Upper School combined pickups: drivers picking up students in Lower and Upper Schools may park on East Republican Street where indicated by the sign “Multi-Division Pick-Up Parking Only.” Parents must walk into the garage to accompany the Lower School student back to their vehicle and then proceed to the Upper School pickup line. Drivers of improperly parked vehicles will be asked to move immediately, even if this means leaving a class, activity, or event.

 Enforcement The Neighborhood Agreement and our Transportation Policy are in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Bush School will routinely and regularly patrol the area adjacent to the school to enforce compliance with the parking procedures. Offenders who violate parking and other traffic regulations will be contacted by the school transportation coordinator notifying them of their noncompliance.Students who violate parking restrictions will be referred to the Upper School director and class deans; parents will be notified. Student violations will be treated as disciplinary matters. Repeat offenders will be referred to the director of finance and operations and then to the head of school. |

Go straight at the stoplight intersection with Madison and proceed for one-half mile. Watch for the school crosswalk (overhead sign) and take the first right on East Harrison Street. The Bush School is on the right.
