Available Services
General services available to Lower School students and families:
Lower School Counselor Implements the Counseling Program in a variety of settings, including classroom discussion, grade level meetings, individual counseling and parent conferences.
School Guidance Curriculum
- Multicultural/diversity awareness
- Education on understanding self, others and cultural differences
- Learn communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution with teachers, students and parents
- Understanding peer relationships and develop coping strategies and effective social skills
Individual Student Counseling
- Education on understanding self, including strengths and challenges
- Develop communication, self advocating, and interpersonal skills
- Develop problem-solving skills
- Develop and learn stress management/stress reduction strategies
- Setting goals and decision-making
- Understanding peer relationships, coping strategies and effective social skills
Intervention
- Individual and small-group counseling
- Counseling and support for students and families facing family crisis, health issue, divorce and/or personal concerns.
- Counseling for students to help resolve conflicts with peers and or parents
- Consultation/collaboration with faculty, students and parents about relevant issues in student’s lives.
- Referrals to outside agencies, school support services or community resources
Parents
- Parent education, referrals to support groups, educational classes and professionals resources.
- Learn and understand developmental stages, needs and coping strategies of adolescent years
- One-on-one parent conferencing
- Develop and learn effective parenting skills and communication strategies
