College Counseling Timelines
Junior Year
January
Foreign-travel students should plan to meet with the College Counselor by mid-February.
College Counseling Information Night for Juniors and Parents will be held in late January to kick off the process in earnest.
Students should complete the pre-advising questionnaires before their first meeting with the College Counselor.
Most students should register for the March SAT.
February
Individual college counseling meetings will begin with the College Counselor. Parents should schedule a meeting after the student’s meeting with the counselor. These meetings will continue through the spring, as we construct a working list of potential colleges.
Make a college application file to stay organized. Keep copies of everything!
Attend Summer Opportunities Fair at Bush.
Winter break may present the opportunity to visit colleges.
Optional: register for April ACT.
March
Take March SAT
Seattle Spring College Fair held in March at Connolly Center at Seattle U
Register for May SAT or SAT Subject Tests.
April
Spring break—another potential opportunity for college visits.
Register for June SAT and SAT Subject Tests—this is an excellent time to take a second SAT or to take Subject Tests in recently completed areas.
May
Register for June ACT—this is a good time to attempt the ACT.
Mid-May: College Admissions Night—a speaker or panel of speakers from colleges will be scheduled to discuss the college admission process with students and parents.
June
Complete and submit Student and Parent Brag Sheets before the summer break.
Plan college visit trips during the summer break.
Students should contact colleges on their “think list” to make sure they are on the colleges’ mailing list and receiving appropriate communications from them before the application season begins.

August
Register for September ACT.
