2021 COMMENCEMENT AND MOVING UP CEREMONIES INFORMATION

We are pleased to share that, in compliance with state and local health guidelines for large gatherings, The Bush School is planning to hold in-person events this June to celebrate our students completing their time in each division. Listed below are the dates, times, and locations for these events. These events will be streamed live at www.bush.edu/virtualevents for those who cannot attend. Please submit further questions for these events using this form, and a Bush staff member will get back to you. 

Class of 2021 Commencement

We are scheduled to celebrate the Class of 2021 Commencement at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 13 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington. Each student’s family/household is limited to 15 guests total. In the instance of families with multiple children in the grade level, families are allotted up to 15 guests. In cases where a student has multiple households, the number of guests is still limited to 15 guests total.

Class of 2025 Moving Up Ceremony

We are scheduled to host the Eighth Grade Moving Up Ceremony on Thursday, June 10 at 9:00 a.m. at The Bush School Magusin Gymnasium. Each student’s family/household is limited to 4 guests total. In the instance of families with multiple children in the grade level, families are allotted up to 4 guests. In cases where a student has multiple households, the number of guests is still limited to 4 guests total. Please click here for more information.
Class of 2028 Moving Up Ceremony

On Tuesday, June 8 at 1:00, we are scheduled to host the Fifth Grade Moving Up Ceremony in The Bush School Magusin Gymnasium. Each student’s family/household is limited to 4 guests total. In the instance of families with multiple children in the grade level, families are allotted up to 4 guests. SENIOR WEEK INFORMATION

We are pleased to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2021 throughout the week of June 7. Please see the information below which includes important dates and times for seniors and their families. 

Monday, June 7 - Wednesday, June 9

Exhibition of Learning: Cascades & Senior Projects Presentations
Time: 9:00-12:30 p.m.
Location: Virtual
Attendees: Upper School students attendance required. Parents/guardians and guests are invited to the Exhibition of Learning for Cascades and Senior Projects. 
 
Wednesday, June 9

Commencement Rehearsal 
Time: 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Location: The Bush School, Turf Field
Attendees: This event is for students only.
Health Screening: Students must complete a health screening

All seniors must attend this rehearsal. Students will be arranged into “pods” for seating, illustrating how they will process and receive their diplomas, and review arrival procedures for graduation day, and practice the ever-important “grab and shake” for receiving their diplomas.


Thursday, June 10

Lifer “Big Cheese” Celebration
Time: 1:00-2:00 p.m.

Attendees: This event is for students only.

A longstanding tradition for seniors who have been at The Bush School for thirteen years, harkening back to the Big Cheese boards that students shared in Kindergarten. This year, we will have a virtual event as a special time for this group to connect with each other and hear from Head of School Percy L. Abram, the Kindergarten class, and a special guest. The virtual event is for lifer students only, and will be recorded to share with families afterward.

Senior Night! 

Time: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Location: The Bush School, Turf Field
Attendees: This event is for students only.
Health Screening: Students must complete a health screening.

Senior Night! is set aside for the senior class to be on campus together one last time and just “hang out.” We will have a food truck, some reflection time, performances, and the long-awaited viewing of their Lipdub from Ninth Grade as well as a slideshow of the Class of 2021. Because of COVID restrictions, this event will be limited to students, faculty, and staff. All in attendance will be required to complete the on-campus health screening. 


Friday, June 11

On-Campus Graduation Portraits
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:40 p.m. (by assigned appointment)
Location: The Bush School, Registration at Lower Campus Gate
Attendees: This event is for graduates and guests. No limit on the number of guests.
Health Screening: Bush health screening required. 

Seniors and their families are invited to a professional graduation portrait session during a designated time slot. Seniors should wear their cap and gown for this special photography session that includes graduate and family portraits. Click here for the schedule of the day. There will be several “stations” for families to visit, including a fun “Reception in a Box” celebration package from the Eleventh Grade parents/guardians. Graduates and family members will be asked to complete the on-campus health screening. 


Sunday, June 13

Commencement
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (graduates should arrive at 10:15 a.m.)
Location: T-Mobile Park
Attendees: This event is for graduates and up to 15 guests total. 
Health Screening: There is no health screening required at this venue.
