Letter from the President

Our family has been a part of the Bush community for over twenty years. We have watched our four sons grow up on the Bush campus, and our youngest son, Cole, is now in his senior year.

Over the years, we have placed our trust in the school and have experienced the beauty of this community. We have watched four very different children discover their authentic selves, each following a distinct path, always supported by caring teachers. Looking back, it is like a series of snapshots. The first day of Kindergarten. The adventures of Middle School. The independence and growing sense of purpose in Upper School. We have built life-long friendships with other Bush parents, cheering on each other’s children every step of the way.

Letter from the Head of School

Throughout the 2018–2019 school year,
I invited the Bush community to share the myriad ways that beauty appears in their lives. From a stirring poem, to a favorite hike, to a special friendship, the faculty, staff, students, parents, and alumni found beauty all around us in simple acts, peaceful settings, and enduring relationships.
It is often the simple acts of kindness that we find most beautiful. It can be volunteering to support an event, chaperoning a field trip, ensuring that our school is accessible to a broader segment of the Seattle community, or giving meaningfully to support the Education Master Plan. Each of these acts helps to build a connected and sustainable school, and ensures that, generations from now, more students from throughout Seattle will be able to access the remarkable programs and exceptional teaching that current students enjoy.

Celebrate Bush

"At Celebrate Bush, we come together and raise our paddles to ensure that the best independent school education is affordable and accessible to talented students of all backgrounds, regardless of a family’s ability to pay tuition. The financial aid program is not supported by one or two people. It is a collective effort. The impact of giving year after year has made a difference in the lives of countless students and families.”

Director of Enrollment Management and Communications

Celebrating the Class of 2019

The Class of 2019 graduated on
June 7, 2019 on a beautifully bright morning. Ray Wilson, Upper School Director, eloquently summarized the spirit of the day with this quote:

"I feel strongly about this class because I witnessed their brilliance throughout their time in Upper School. This group raised the awareness level of their peers and faculty in a manner that sparked the creation of student clubs, influenced curriculum, guided discussions on a Board level, and most importantly, served as a blueprint for future graduates to follow.”
