The Fifth Grade recently completed their Heroes Project, an annual cross-curricular unit in which students write about their personal heroes in literacy class and create portraits in art class. This work is a part of Heroes Elevate Empathy, a global youth art project with Siddhartha School in Ladakh, India. The theme for 2019 highlights children's animal heroes. The goal is to facilitate a cross-cultural conversation between young people about the value of all living things by encouraging them to examine the interconnectedness of life. Their portraits are on the way to the Himalayas, where they will be displayed at the Ladakh Arts And Media Organisation Community Gallery. To see their beautiful artwork, click here.
