2022-2023 New Lower School Faculty

Lower School Teachers
 
Bushra Jawed has moved from the role of First Grade Teacher to Second Grade Teacher.

Camille Laramore
will be joining the Lower School as a First Grade Teacher. Most recently, Camille taught Kindergarten and First Grade at Westpark Elementary in Fort Worth, Texas during her six year tenure. Camille also taught Pre-Kindergarten at the REAL Learning Academy in Austin. Camille earned her B.S. in Science of Early Childhood Education from the University of Oklahoma.  

Michelle Raymond will be joining the Lower School as a First Grade Teacher. Most recently, Michelle was a third grade teacher at Vivian E. Hussey Primary School in Berwick, Maine where she taught for five years and was a member of the Response to Intervention Team and Mathematics Team. Michelle earned her B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Maine.  

Julie Freise will be joining the Lower School as a math support faculty member. Prior to this, Julie taught math part-time in Bush’s Middle School. Before teaching at Bush, Julie taught Middle School math at University Preparatory Academy. Julie has experience in coaching, as well. Julie earned her B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Puget Sound and her Master’s in Teaching from Seattle University.

Lower School Assistants
 
Helen DeMun will be joining the Lower School as a Lower School Assistant. Most recently, Helen was the Director of Marketing and Administration at Sensa Salon. She also served as an Administrative Assistant at Ohana Salon. Helen is working towards a B.A. in Business from North Seattle Community College. 

Anna Gabbert will be joining the Lower School as a Lower School Assistant. Most recently, Anna has worked as a coach at Bush since 2019, coaching Middle and Upper School basketball, as well as Middle School soccer and Ultimate Frisbee. In addition, Anna has also been working as a K-12 substitute faculty member for Physical Education classes. Prior to this, Anna worked as a Classroom Helper at the Denise Louie Education Center in Seattle. Anna earned a B.A. in Early Childhood and Family Studies from the University of Washington.

Betsy Simpson will be joining the Lower School as a Lower School Assistant. Most recently, Betsy has been working as a Fourth Grade Teacher at Central School in Wilmette, Illinois. Previously, she taught at Sacred Heart School in Chicago, holding positions teaching Sixth Grade Social Studies and serving as an Eighth Grade Advisor for three years, and teaching Fifth Grade in the Hardey Preparatory for Boys for four years. Betsy earned a B.A. in Spanish and History from Fordham University in the Bronx, New York, and a Master’s of Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
