Middle School Cross Country - First Race of the Season
Yesterday was the first CrossTown Middle School cross country meet. Though more than half of our team was on the Eighth Grade retreat, our five Sixth and Seventh Grade runners showed a great performance.
It was a beautiful fall day, perfect for running through the woods. The team arrived at Lincoln Park in West Seattle early enough to do a full walkthrough of the 1-mile course, noting the slight downhill at the beginning and a few key turns. The boys ran first at 3:45 p.m., and everyone ran a great race, setting a solid base time for the season. Lincoln was the first Sixth Grade boy to cross the finish line, coming in seventh overall with a time of 6:12. Sam finished at 7:23, Reece at 7:26, and Aiden at 7:41. Amazing runs by all!
Our one Sixth Grade girl, Lane, ran at 4:05 p.m., bravely solo on the start line. Lane held the front of the pack for the whole race, coming in first with a time of 6:24. Congratulations Lane!
We look forward to seeing Blazers fans at the next meet on Tuesday, September 18.
