Densho Visits The Bush School

On Friday, December 8, Tom Ikeda, Executive Director of Densho, spoke to Upper School students at Forum. Densho, which means “to pass on to the next generation” in Japanese, preserves the testimonies of Japanese Americans who were unjustly incarcerated in internment camps during WWII. Tom, who also visited the Japanese-American Experience history class this fall, spoke of the resonance of Pearl Harbor and Japanese internment seventy-six years later. He referenced a quote often attributed to Mark Twain: “History does not repeat itself, but it rhymes.”
