Forefront Suicide Prevention Training - Wednesday, March 8

Forefront Suicide Prevention Training for Parents/Guardians
Date:
Wednesday, March 8
Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Doors will open at 6:10 p.m. and the training will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.
Location: Community Room

The Bush School is part of a statewide suicide prevention program in collaboration with Forefront, a non-profit organization through the University of Washington. As the second leading cause of death among children 15-19, suicide is a major public health issue. The tenets of the Forefront program, and for suicide prevention in general, are as follows:

-Suicide is a community issue—EVERYONE in a geographic region is impacted by suicide, not just the kids in our home or our school.
-Suicide is preventable.
-Suicide prevention is EVERYONE'S responsibility.

With those tenets in mind, as well as being aware of our own community’s experiences with loss, The Bush School will provide comprehensive training for adults in the community on effective suicide prevention strategies. The Bush Support Services Department and Families Association invite you to join fellow parents Amy Rotival (Alex ’18, Sophie ’21, Isabelle ’24, and Edouard ‘27), Sara Carter ’90 (Abigail ’19 and Oliver ’22), and Urs Koenig (Luc ‘24 and Liam ‘26) who will lead this peer to peer training. Learn the warning signs of youth suicide and how to engage your child in conversation on this difficult topic.

To attend this event, please RSVP by Monday, March 6.
