Our Community

Welcome to The Bush School Neighbors Page!

We appreciate your visiting the Neighbors Page, where you will find information on our current events and transportation initiatives.  We want to keep you apprised of events and activities on campus as well as inform you of our transportation initiatives, which are aimed at reducing the impact resulting from the operation of a school in a residential community.  We have also linked a variety of resources below and are always happy to answer any questions. Please feel free to reach out to Chief Finance and Operations Officer Rather Stanton directly or be on the lookout for periodic Neighbor meetings and newsletters for more information.

The Bush School strives to be a good neighbor and provide a framework for clear and timely communication so that any issues of mutual interest and concern to the school and its neighbors can be resolved effectively and efficiently.

Center Campus Middle School Construction FAQs

List of 5 items.

  • Will students and classes remain on campus during construction?

All classes and students will remain on campus throughout construction. The only adjustment will be during breakfast and lunchtime our cafeteria service is temporarily relocated next door, at the MLK Community Center.
  • Will drop-off and pick-up be impacted by construction?

Pick-up and drop-off procedures will not be affected by construction, including late starts on Wednesdays. Our contractors have made it a priority to schedule work in a way that avoids disrupting normal traffic flow.
  • Where is the construction crew parking?

The construction crew is parking off campus in the area west of 32nd Ave E. and south of E. Thomas St.
  • What safety measures will be in place for Middle School students crossing Lake Washington Blvd. for class?

Safety for our students joining our Upper School Campus for classes has been a top priority throughout the planning of this project. We are adding a new member to our Facilities team who will be dedicated to supporting student safety at the crosswalk throughout the day, monitoring walkways during construction, and ensuring safe passage to and from the MLK building. In addition to the existing signage and flashing lights at the crosswalk, we are working to install motion-sensored lighting signs and exploring other traffic-safety enhancements to further support safe travel across campus.
  • When will the new building open?

The new building is on track to be open for the first day of school in the fall of 2027.
