Welcome Cross Country Co-Head Coaches: Karsten Kaufmann & Kayla Eland ’08!

We are excited for Karsten Kaufmann and Kayla Eland ‘08 to be stepping into the Cross Country Head Coaching role this coming fall. Karsten and Kayla have been a part of the cross country and track programs at Bush for a number of years. Karsten is entering his fourth year and Kayla, entering her tenth are the perfect duo to lead the cross country program. They are both excited to share their knowledge and passion for the sport while continuing to foster the growth of each individual runner and the team as a whole.

“For everyone to find a supportive community on the team, challenge themselves, and to have fun while doing it,” Kayla said of the goals for the program.

This community is cultivated from the coaching leadership, and the seniors class that Coach Karsten is excited to see what they come out and accomplish this season.

“We have a strong contingent of seniors that have been building to this moment for the last three years,” Karsten said. “We are excited to see their leadership take the team to new heights this season.”

The team is coming off an incredible year where the boys’ team raced to second place at the WIAA 1A State Championship Meet, while the girls’ team sent four individual qualifiers to State. The leadership and determination of the seniors on the team combined with passion and guidance from the coaches will make for another memorable season. We are excited for the 2024-25 season.
