Bush Golfers Finish with Strong Showing at ECL Championship Tournament

Bush Athletics Staff
The Boys Golf team had a strong showing at the Emerald City League Championship Tournament at Bellevue Municipal Golf Course. This year, the Blazers had their best finish in school history placing third overall. Wesley ('21), Malcolm ('18), Keegan ('18) and Ryan ('20) represented Bush in a tough field of competitors.
Wesley led all Bush golfers with a second place finish overall, scoring 73 and earning himself All-League Honors in addition to Rookie of the Year. Coach Erin Szekely praised the freshman golfer saying, "he handled himself with maturity and good sportsmanship." Senior and team captain Malcolm placed 13th overall in his first league tournament with a score of 47-38. Outstanding performances by both golfers earned them a trip to the Bi-District Championship in North Bellingham next spring. Ryan and Keegan both missed the cut for districts this year but were competitive overall, finishing with scores that would have qualified them for districts last season. Ryan will have an opportunity to qualify next season. However, Keegan will be graduating in the spring. Coach Szekely spoke highly of Keegan calling him "a true sportsman and we can all be proud of his efforts. It was a very competitive championship."

Congratulations to the Boys Golf team and Coach Szekely on a great finish to the season!
