Blazers drop opening game to SCDS
Shots refused to drop, but the future looks promising.
"Ugh." This is the best way to describe games when a team has it's chances but just can't put it all together.
In their first game of the season, the new-look "White" team played solid defense against a SCDS team that had some tenacious and skilled players of their own. The game was a tale of two halves.
To start the game the Blazers were sparked by some fast break and high pick and roll play with strong finishes by Aniyah in what felt like a half controlled by the Blazers. The only issue was with a few long shots made by SCDS, the Blazers were unable to distance themselves during the half.
"Even though we were winning, it never felt comfortable." Said coach Rosen, lamenting the lost opportunities. "Given the way we were playing we should have been ahead by more than 14-10 at half, but we missed too many shots and they hit some really low percentage shots to keep them close."
In the second half the Blazers went even colder, totalling only four points. Said Coach Regas, "we had a lot of good looks, but nothing would drop, and then we gave up a few fast breaks that let them back in the game."
Still, the effort showed this Blazer team is going to be tough for other teams to deal with. They hustle, and scrap for everything. It should be an exciting year.
