Revised Upper School Mask Policy: Monday, November 15

At the most recent meeting of the Bush Health Panel, the group discussed the possibility of vaccinated Upper School students not wearing masks outside during the academic day. Based on the relatively low spread of COVID-19 in outdoor settings and the high vaccination rate among Upper School students, faculty, and staff, the panel supported eliminating the mask requirement outdoors when in the presence of other Upper School community members. Upper School students, faculty and staff will still be required to wear masks outdoors when in the presence of Lower School or Middle School students, faculty, and staff.
As with most of our policy changes, we will proceed with caution. If we notice Upper School students violating the policy by removing masks indoors, or if we observe infection rates increasing over time, then we will return to a campus-wide outdoor mask mandate. However, if compliance is high and infection rates remain low, we will consider removing the outdoor mask mandate in the new year for vaccinated Middle School students, faculty, and staff. We will consider lifting the outdoor mask mandate for Lower School students later in the school year based on consultation with the Bush Health Panel and the conditions on campus.

This new outdoor mask policy for Upper School students, faculty, and staff will begin on Monday, November 15.
