Riddle Me This.

Steve Rosen
Bush 6th Grade Girls "White" Team went up against Forrest Ridge's Zone Defense and it had some tall trees to try to climb.
In basketball, there is nothing worse that spending an entire practice working on person-to-person offense only to be faced with a team that has no intention of playing person-to-person defense.

Such was the case this Wednesday when the Blazers took on Forrest Ridge.  Having never seen or practiced against a zone the points were extremely hard to come by in what was a frustrating afternoon for the Blazers on offense.

On a positive note, without having a formal zone offense yet, the Blazers put together a much better second half and found a few holes in the tight zone, something the coaches think the team can grow from.

After the game a frustrated coach Rosen lamented, "I have been worried for a while that we have been taking too long to install our zone offense and today we got tripped-up because of it.  That was not an easy situation for us to be in, but we never stopped fighting and it showed in the second half."

It was great to see Avie C. score a bucket after missing the first part of the season and Anne F. once again showed that she has soft, accurate shot whenever she gets free around the basket.  The team also welcomed back Nora M.  who was playing in her first game and was asked to remember a lot!

Coach Regas said of the game, "It's a great sign that for how new this team is to basketball they are very calm and collected.  They are great role models for Coach Rosen who might benefit from not ingesting any caffine before games, if you know what I mean.  They have already started a collection pool to buy him a few books on the benefits of meditation mental stillness."

Smart team.
