National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) with a series of engaging and empowering events designed to educate, inspire, and celebrate girls and women in athletics. All Bush K-12 students, families, and community members are invited to take part!

Friday, January 30 – Blazer Bash KickoffNGWSD celebrations tip-off at
Blazer Bash with a high-energy night of school spirit and community fun. Look for NGWSD-themed spirit items, Lower, Middle, and Upper School relay races with Bush NGWSD T-shirt prizes, and special in-game moments honoring girls and women in sports. The Middle School Girls in Sports Club will host a bake sale during the games to support a local nonprofit—cheer, race, and give back all in one night!
Saturday, January 31 – 3XBA Girls Basketball Skills Clinic
Bush is thrilled to partner with the 3x3 Basketball Association (3XBA), the premier women’s professional FIBA 3x3 tour in the U.S., to host a FREE skills clinic for girls. Athletes learn directly from women who have competed at the professional, collegiate, and national levels, gaining both on-court skills and inspiration.

Sunday, February 1 – UW Women’s Basketball Experience
Join Bush families at Alaska Airlines Arena for UW vs. Illinois Women’s Basketball with discounted tickets exclusively for our community! Tip Off is at 3:00 p.m. in Alaska Airlines Arena.

UW Gymnastics, Soccer, Volleyball, and Basketball student-athletes. Monday, February 2 – Divisional Activity Day
Each division will celebrate NGWSD in age-appropriate and meaningful ways:
- Lower School: Connect with Upper School female student-athletes, learn about NGWSD history, and create Women in Sports artwork displayed in Schuchart Lobby
- Middle School: Advisory trivia competition led by Dean of Students Ms. Ami, with NGWSD x Bush T-shirts for winners
- Upper School: “Question of the Day” engagement during breaks and lunch, culminating in a student-produced video shared on the @BushBlazers instagram
Tuesday, February 3: Girls Who Lift (3:30–4:30 p.m.)
Girls are invited to a girls-only lifting session in the Fitness Center led by Fitness Center Specialist Megan McKinney-Rickey, Upper School Health and Wellness Faculty Ali Stewart-Ito, and a special guest Olympic Powerlifter. This welcoming, confidence-building session is open to all experience levels. Walk-ins welcome, no registration required. Available to students in Sixth-Twelfth Grade.
Wednesday, February 4: NGWSD Panel & Middle School Girls Basketball Triple Header
Celebrate NGWSD with a student-led panel discussion on girls and women in sports, hosted by the Middle School Girls in Sports Club. Students and community members will have the chance to ask questions and engage directly with panelists (time TBD).
The celebration concludes with a Middle School Girls Basketball Triple Header in Schuchart Gym. Come pack the stands and cheer on all three teams!
- Middle School Girls White vs. Heritage Christian at 4:00 p.m.
- Middle School Girls Royal vs. Overlake at 5:15 p.m.
- Middle School Girls Navy vs. Overlake at 6:30 p.m.
