New Blazers Associate Athletic Director

Jo Ito
The Blazers Athletic Department recently completed its search for the Associate Athletic Director position.  "I am delighted to introduce Mel White as our new Associate Athletic Director" said Jo Ito, Athletic Director at The Bush School.  Mel comes with six years of experience in interscholastic high school sports.  Most recently, she worked as the Assistant Director of Student Life and Athletics at Seattle Prep where her responsibilities included developing leadership opportunities for students-athletes, managing compliance for 800 student-athletes, and overseeing game operations for volleyball, basketball, and football.  In addition to her passion for providing interscholastic athletic opportunities for students of all ages, Mel is a leader in promoting gender equity.  Her work with EmpowHER has resulted in female identifying athletes having better access to strength and conditioning training.  "Our program has grown significantly over the past years and it's exciting to receive additional support.  Mel is the perfect addition to our team - she will help manage our busy workload and keep our focus on finding ways to continue to advance our program.  She is fully aligned with our emphasis on providing student-athletes with well-balanced, inclusive, and positive sports experiences."  Outside of work, Mel enjoys coaching ice hockey for the University of Washington women's club hockey team and loves to get out and play when she gets the chance.
