Bush Girls finish 2nd, Boys 3rd at ESC XC Championships

It was a banner day for the Blazer Cross Country program, as both the boys and girls teams finished in the top 3 at the Emerald Sound Conference Championships.

Led by Kathryn F. ’23, the Bush girls captured runner-up honors as team with 80 points. Kathryn cover the 5,000-meter course on Saturday afternoon at Granite Falls High School in a personal best time of 19:59.1 to finish fourth overall. Kathryn’s time was more than minute faster than last year. Elise F. ’25 was the next top finisher for Bush, placing thirteenth (21:27.92). The Blazers placed five runners in the top 25. Overlake won the team title with 39 points, while Seattle Academy was third (83 points). 
 
In the boys race, Amaré F. ’25  16:30.8 continued his strong senior season, placing third overall in a time of 16:30.8, helping the team to third-place finish with 68 points. Amaré’s time was more than a minute and thirty seconds faster than the time he ran last year at the ESC Championships. Duncan F-S. ’25 wasn’t far behind, placing seventh (17:14.83), while teammate Geffrey A. ’24 was fiftheeth in 17:35.77.  Bush had four in the top 20 and all five  runners in the top 25. The overall team champion was Cedar park Christian with 43 points and Northwest was second with 58 points. 

Next up for the Blazers is the 1A District 2 Championships on Saturday, October 29 at South Whidbey High.
