Middle School Optional AMC National Mathematics Exams
Bush Middle School students have the opportunity to participate in the AMC 8 and AMC 10 national mathematics exams. The AMC 10 will be held at The Bush School on Thursday, November 5, and the AMC 8 will be held at The Bush School on Thursday, January 21, 2027. About the AMC Exams
The American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) are nationwide problem-solving contests designed to strengthen students’ analytical thinking and mathematical reasoning skills. The AMC 8 is open to students in Eighth Grade and below, covering content seen up to Eighth Grade math. The AMC 10 is designed for students in Tenth Grade and below, covering content up to Algebra 2. These exams encourage creative, logical thinking and provide students with an opportunity to experience mathematics beyond the classroom. Participation can be a meaningful way for students to challenge themselves, gain confidence in their problem-solving abilities, and prepare for more advanced competitions and coursework in the future.

Practice and Preparation
Students interested in taking the AMC 10 will have the chance to attend practice sessions during October and November, and December and January for the AMC 8. All practice will take place during the school day. During these sessions, they will work collaboratively on previous AMC problems and other open-ended math challenges, sharing strategies and refining their problem-solving skills. Exam Details
The AMC 10 will be administered on Thursday, November 5, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

The AMC 8 will be administered on Thursday, January 21, 2027, from 11:20 AM - 12:20 p.m.
Both exams are free of charge and open to all Middle School students. Test results are typically shared individually with students within a month of the exam date by their math teacher and will be published to the Bush Community Portal.
