The Boys Varsity Golf team had an excellent season under Coach Erin Szekely. Several Blazer golfers had break-out performances this season. Malcolm M., Keegan L., Ryan G., and Wesley S. all qualified for the ECL Championship where the team finished third overall.
Freshman Wesley S. played in the first position on the team for all matches and had qualifying rounds in every match. He was the medalist in the match against Overlake on October fifth with a two under score of 34 which was his low score of the year. He placed second in the ECL Championship and qualified for the Bi-District Championship in the Spring. He received First Team All League honors by finishing in the top six for the tournament and received the Rookie of the Year Award which is awarded to the top newcomer score at the Championship.
Malcolm M., the team captain, had three qualifying rounds and shot an 85 (47-38) in the Championship to qualify for Bi Districts in 13th place out of twenty-four players. He was a great leader and role model for the team.
Keegan L. qualified for the ECL Championship with two rounds. His low score was a 44. Ryan G. had four qualifying rounds and played in the ECL Championship shooting a respectable 93. All the members of the team including: Deja J., Aidan L., Jax G., and Gus C. contributed to a great season and everyone improved their skills and had a great time. Coach Szekely is "looking forward to next year" and hopes "that more players will be enticed to join the team. To the seniors, Captain Malcolm and Keegan: good luck in the future and keep playing!"
