Bush’s Xander T. ’26 Commits to Cornell University for Track and Field
On Wednesday, November 12, Xander T. ’26 officially announced his commitment to Cornell University where he’ll continue as student-athlete competing on the track and field team. Xander was joined by Bush community members to help congratulate him.
"We are so happy for Xander and his family. Xander is a remarkably gifted student-athlete who doesn't rely solely on his natural talent; he works tirelessly at his craft and inspires those around him through his effort, focus, and drive,” Bush Athletic Director Jo Ito said.
Through this time on the track team at Bush, Xander has become one of the top hurdlers and sprinters in the state and region. Last spring as junior, he won the WIAA 1A 110 meter hurdles (14.65), 400 dash (49.70), and finished fourth in the 200 (21.86). He is also a two-time Emerald Sound Conference and 1A District champion in the 400 and is a key contributor on the Blazer relay teams.
“It was not only about continuing my athletic career but also bringing myself to a high standard both athletically and academically,” Xander said.
Xander will head to Cornell (Ithaca, New York) where he’ll join a squad that recently finished fourth at the 2025 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championships. Xander joins a line of recent Bush track student-athletes at the collegiate level, including Duncan Frisbie-Smith ’25, who currently runs for Brown.
“I’m really excited to see how far they (Cornell) can push me, and see how far this track thing can take me,” Xander said.
