The Bush School

Athletics Hall of FameTheo Coxe

In 2017, Theo Coxe retired from teaching Physical Education after thirty four years at The Bush School. Throughout his teaching and coaching career he had a positive impact on the lives of countless student-athletes and served as a mentor to many up-and-coming coaches. Theo began his career at Bush in 1983, teaching Middle and Upper School P.E. and coaching basketball. During his tenure, he helped shape both the Physical Education and the Athletic Departments by teaching in all three divisions, and coaching various sports at the Middle and Upper School levels, including: basketball, tennis, volleyball, soccer, baseball, and track & field. He served as P.E. Department Head, interim Athletic Director, Gym Manager, and Fitness Center Supervisor. Known for his witty nature and love of discourse, debate, and palindromes, we are blessed to experience his enthusiasm for life (and his workouts), love of adventure, and passion to serve as a role model, as he continues
to be involved in our community as a coach, chaperone and assistant lead for overseas trips.
