2023-2024 New Upper School Faculty & Staff

We are pleased to welcome our new Upper School faculty and staff to the Bush community. Read below to learn more about this amazing group of educators. 

Caitlin Carter will be joining the Upper School as a Spanish Teacher. Most recently, Caitlin taught at Seattle University teaching Spanish Language and Culture as a Second Language. Caitlin earned a Ph.D. from the Department of Spanish and Portuguese from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Cailtin holds a M.A in Hispanic Studies from the University of Arizona and a M.A in Teaching Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Granada (Spain). In addition, Caitlin holds a B.A in Spanish from the University of Oregon.

Yi Ning Chen will be joining the Upper School as a Mandarin Teacher. Most recently, Yi Ning taught at Panda Class in Newcastle, Washington. Yin Ning holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Washington. 

Karen Landen will be joining the Upper School as a Math Teacher. Most recently, Karen taught at The Bush School as an instructor for Math in the Bush Upper School’s Summer Program. In addition, Karen taught math part-time in the Middle School and was a substitute faculty member. Karen holds a B.A. in Secondary Mathematics and a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Western Washington, as well as a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Olivet Nazarene University 

Jason Medeiros will be joining the Upper School as a Science Teacher. Jason has worked for a number of years for Rainier Scholars. Jason earned a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Washington and an M.S. in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management from the University of California, Berkeley. He holds a B.S. in Biology from Yale University.

Jackie Montminy
joins the Upper School as a Science Teacher. Most recently, Jackie taught Science at the Cambridge Street Upper School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Jackie earned a M.Ed in Science Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a B.S. in Biology and Sustainable Agriculture from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Brooks Teevan will be joining the Upper School as an English Teacher and Upper School Librarian. Brooks most recently worked at The Bush School as a substitute teacher and prior to that was a Teaching Assistant in Creative Writing at the University of Minnesota. Brooks earned a M.S. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, M.F.A in Writing from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. from Northwestern University in Writing. 

Hannah Ramone will be joining the Upper School as a Music Teacher. Hannah most recently worked as a Music Teacher at Midway Elementary in the Highline School District. Hannah earned a M.ED in School Leadership and Development from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Cambridge, MA and a Bachelor of Music Education from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.

TRANSITIONS
 
Rachel Ladd will transition to the position of Program Manager working with the Upper School and the College Counseling and Student Success Office.
 
Christine Miller will hold the role of Acting Upper School Academic Dean, while continuing as an Instructional Coach and Upper School faculty member.
